SheezyArt?

1 min read

Anyone know anything about SheezyArt? Is it any good? Does it function? XD Have any secret ToS bullshit? Trashcanfire like a number of other art sites that have tried to start up?

Or is it actually a good viable alternative to the dA shitshow?

Really pissy with dA for suddenly requiring two-factor authentication to access earnings. I do NOT use a mobile device for my internet access and have no desire to do so. Nor do I want to have to go through the hassle of doing so EVERY. TIME. I LOG IN. Especially just to get at my points. That I earned. And that should be my choice. If I get stupidly hacked and lose all my funds or access, oh well for me.

But it should be my CHOICE whether I want to be an idiot about it or not.

Just wondering if anyone is good at designing/drawing Disney mandrills. I want to commission someone for a one or a two of them, and I know Firehart95 (my usual go-to) is burnt out on designing stuff. Anyone else good at it? :meow:

Since the new stuff being posted by another fan, I have been asked by three people now to share the things I myself own - either wanting me to post them or wanting to pay me - and I want to address it up front so hopefully I don't get asked repeatedly in the future (I own this, among other things).

I get that people want to see this stuff, and I don't blame them: every new factoid is something to roll in and be excited about. However, that being said, I also do know that sharing is a risky prospect. Legally, the content of the copies is owned to this day by Disney. I can have all the copies I want, and those are mine, free and clear, but the content is not mine. Think of it like owning a copy of a book. You own that physical copy and can read it and stuff all you want. You cannot, however, scan the thing and post online for anyone to read. Even if you want to discuss the book, putting the entire thing up does NOT fall under fair use. There is the added issue that Disney did NOT make these things publicly available, so me doing that without their permission then becomes an added legal sticking point. Again, that is NOT fair use -- because it wasn't something they made available to anyone outside themselves.

Now yes, Disney may ignore someone posting this stuff. They may not care one whit and have more important things to focus on than some random fan-moron posting 20+ year old conceptual copies. There's a very good possibility that would be the case and nothing would ever happen because you're so far beneath their notice for them to deign to even acknowledge it... or maybe they suddenly do feel the need to make an example of someone they know can't really fight back. It all depends on their current mood when/if they catch wind of it, and we all should know by now that Disney is a company that really likes to sue people over their copyrights. And right now, Disney isn't in a great mood on this issue -- Steamboat Willie/Mickey had to go public, and they really, really, don't like that fact. An easy win against someone who infringes on something they still DO own? Might be enough to make them come play where they otherwise wouldn't care. I don't know, that that risk isn't one I personally want to wave a red flag at them over.

I'd love to share the stuff I own. Trust me, I very much would. But I'm not going to. Unlike the poster for the other new SP concepts, I'm not dealing with a purely theoretical arena on the issue. One of the things I own Disney DOES remember the existence of and has explicitly warned that any posting of it will be met with extreme legal hostility (I own the only copy in existence, so they will know it was me if it becomes public). So no, I'm not going to post anything and play chicken against a multibillion dollar corporation. They don't have to "win" on legal merit -- they just have to outlast me monetarily.

Sorry to disappoint!

New SP Content

2 min read

I'm as hyped for new SP concept content as the next fan, but I DO really really REALLY hope someone warned the person who bought all of it and plans to put it in videos and other online posts that doing so is not a smart idea. You are able to summarize and explain (in your own words) what you bought, or share the listing pictures from where you bought it from, but beyond that? NO. Sharing the content of things like that is technically illegal, just as freely posting the movie would be. The stuff is still Disney's intellectual property and cannot be shared without their consent. And this isn't just me being a paranoid loon -- I also own a good cache of SP (and even TLK!) concepts and treatments, but have never shared mine for this very reason. You can own the copies (just as you can own a copy of the movie), but you cannot SHARE it online. This warning comes from a copyright lawyer, and not me. Be VERY wary of sharing this, Mysterious Online Person -- maybe Disney ignores you and doesn't care and nothing happens, but Disney is very litigious and will defend its copyright even on minor things. I'd hate to see you sued into the nightmare dimension because they catch wind of you sharing their stuff online.

Don't get me wrong: I REALLY want to see it and know these things, but just saying. Might want to reconsider that move.
