Mahoka is a conniving, malicious old lioness, driven insane by her years in captivity. She has watched most all of her cubs disappear or die, and has been tormented by her captors mercilessly. Once freed by Taka, and brought to his homeland, she sees that the only way her rag-tag pride of escapees can live freely without the constant threat of exile is to place Taka on his brother's throne, and to mate him to one of her lionesses. She sees nothing wrong with the murder of the current King, or Taka's son Miitu. As such, she grooms her daughter Zira to take Sarafina's place, all while feeding Zira's own madness.

It is my great confusion why everyone gives Zira's mum blue eyes. Not that I'm complaining.

i did it originally to show where vitani got her eye color from (blue), but when i changed vitani to NOT be zira's biological daughter, i just never changed it to anything else
